One of the downsides of running as many websites as we do is getting junk email. We get about 20-30 in a typical day, although this isn’t helped by the fact that our sites have a contact form on them allowing visitors to get in touch easily. One thing we have noticed amongst all of the spam from companies pitching their services to us is that not only do they make use of spambots to crawl the net looking for sites to and compose their generic emails, but they tend to follow set patterns.
Often they claim to have discovered our sites while searching, praise our designs or content, and then go on to try to sell us design or SEO services, or offer to boost our online visibility, claiming that they can boost our “sales”. Obviously, I never engage with any of them, even to put them straight on the fact that they’ve never even looked at our sites!
But there’s a growing trend now for these companies to use AI in their pitches. Not only are their business offers getting increasingly ludicrous, but the wording – as with most AI content – is a struggle to make sense of. As this latest one we received show…
The Transformers new clients
Hey,
I came across The Transformers online and wanted to reach out because we’re working with other transformers websites that are offering Transformers-themed pubs.
Okay, I don’t think I’ve ever come across any website that is a pub (a lot of pubs with their own sites but not a site that is a pub!) so first content fail here!
I’m currently working with a few transformers websites on campaigns that are getting their sales teams meetings with warm leads every month. We’re targeting people who need Transformers-themed pubs using personalized email sequences.
I’d love to know what sites would fall for this sales pitch! Apart from major businesses that sell online, most specialist traders who sell toys are small family companies or sole traders and certainly don’t have “sales teams” and how do you get a sales team meeting with warm leads?
If they are targetting people who need Transformers-themed pubs they might find a very small audience. And on another note here, wtf is a personalised email sequence?!
If I could help you connect with potential clients like this, would that be helpful to you?
Cheers,
[name redacted]
Definitely one of the strangest spambot emails I’ve ever seen! I know a lot of others have said the same, but I think we’re quite safe from AI content for a while yet…
