It has come to our attention that some of you are having difficulty booking accommodation at the Hilton for Auto Assembly 2012, finding that the type of room you want to book is being reported as being sold out. The Hilton is one of the largest hotels in the UK with almost 800 bedrooms and with the convention still over 5 months away, we find it hard to believe that this is the case.
While I am not 100% certain, what appears to have happened is that the Hilton has reserved an initial block of rooms for Auto Assembly and within that there were only a set number of each type of room and it is this allocation that has sold out. When we originally met with the Hilton to book the hotel in 2010 we discussed the number of attendees and rooms we would need and from what I have found in a recent email, there was an allocation of rooms they had set but it would appear that they have not allowed this allocation to expand automatically as demand for rooms has increased.
I have contacted the Hilton today to ensure that this allocation will be extended or to have the limit removed to ensure that attendees won’t have any problems booking accommodation but I want to apologise for any of you who have been caused any inconvenience by this and I will ask that the Hilton work with any of you to change any bookings over to your desired room type if you have had to book a different room to the one you originally intended.
