It’s all well and good to discuss Transformers with gravity. A lot of the themes are powerful. We’ve been fans for decades. But I think it’s also easy to be too serious. I find it cathartic to poke a bit of fun at ourselves every now and then. It allows me to put things into perspective. So, today, I want to have a bit of fun. Today, I Cast My Dream Transformers Movie (Using Only Memes). Welcome to Meme Cast.
The Protagonist: Daniel McConnell (Aussiest. Interview. Ever. What a legend!)
I love a relatable protagonist. But you know what I love even more? A likeable protagonist. And there are very few peoples as likeable as Aussies. Just ask the Mighty Car Mods guys. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing, the Aussies will be nice about it. Even legislation and logistics are fun. Fun is what Australia does. Want to watch a race? Mount Panorama is a racetrack where people gather to drink and ocassionally, a race breaks out. Want to have some harmless fun and have a flutter? https://www.australianonlinecasinosites.com has you covered, promos and all. And if you need someone likeable, look no further than Daniel McConnell.
Dan The Man was sleeping when a car crashed into the corner store next to his house. He went down in his undies, chased the would-be escaping criminal, and brought peace to his community. Isn’t that the kind of guy we need in a Transformers movie? Just someone trying to do good. I think that was perhaps one of the flaws in Sam Witwicky as a character: he was doing it for the girls, for the fame, for power. Daniel would just do it because it’s the right thing to do, and expect nothing in return. Except perhaps to punch that yellow Holden in the face. He’s a Ford guy, after all.
The Scientist: Rebecca Black (Friday)
Alright, alright. Calm down. I know Rebecca Black is an easy target. And perhaps you would have expected me to cast her as a love interest. But to be fair, Ms. Black has thoroughly earned my respect in the years since her song Friday became a hit (for all the wrong reasons).
She is a YouTuber in her own right, and has been an advocate against bullying for years. And for understandable reasons. Somewhere in my mind, I think she is perhaps one of the reasons why we now have Poppy. And that can only be a good thing. Perhaps we can feature Poppy in a future edition of Meme Cast. For now, though, I gotta say: Rebecca Black’s where it’s at.
That’s why I want her to be the brains of the operation. It’s a much better approach than Marky Mark, and it may inspire young women to go into science in the hopes of encountering an alien race of giant, super-smart robots.
Optimus Prime: James May (Cheese)
I’ve been a fan of Mr. James May for over a decade. I first got exposed to James May through his work on Top Gear. But I have since seen pretty much every single television programme he’s done in the last 20 years. He has an incredible ability to make me want to learn about whatever he’s talking about. It doesn’t matter if it’s putting a lawnmower back together (The Reassembler), or putting the ashes of a cat in orbit (Man Lab), or talking about leisure games (also Man Lab). In fact, there was a whole episode of Man Lab focused on the game of darts, and even though I’ve never played in person, I was soon looking for the top payout online casinos in order to try and play virtual darts. Mostly due to a lack of equipment.
Anyway, here’s the thing. May recently became a meme due to the way he said “cheese” on one of the videos uploaded to Food Tribe. Food Tribe is a spin-off of another series called Drive Tribe. Now, if James May has the ability to capture people’s imagination to the point where he becomes a meme for saying cheese… can you imagine how great it’d be to have him explain The Spark to us?
He’s supposedly notoriously anti-geek, but I’ve always found that to be a bit rich. Particularly coming from a man who spends his spare time putting old telephones back together. Nobody better, than, to explain the origins of Cybertron. Meme cast in its purest form, this is.
Megatron: Ted Williams (Homeless Man’s Voice Gets National Buzz)
This isn’t really a meme, but I love Ted, and I really wish we could help him succeed. The story of Ted Williams is one fraught with pain and almost endless suffering. He first gained notoriety 10 years ago, when a news anchor found him on the side of the road. Homeless and with a sign which said he had a golden voice, he indeed did have such a gift. But his life after becoming famous was no easier.
What an opportunity it’d be for him, then, to be cast as one of the most iconic villains of all time. To be embraced by a community like the Transformers community. His voice definitely suits the profile. and perhaps we all just need a little love. And a deep, deep voice to bring on the end of Cybertron.
