Why Are You Interested In Transformers?
I guess that we're all part of this board primarily because of Auto Assembly but when it comes to Transformers, we're all drawn to them for different reasons. What's the appeal of Transformers for all of you?

Re: Why Are You Interested In Transformers?
For me it started in 1986 when i bought Skywarp for my brother for his b'day then Prowl and Tracks . he lost interest in them and i didn't and it's stuck with me ever since . The reason i loved transformers so much was the backgrounds of each of the characters that hasbro put on their tech specs, coupled with the comics and cartoon series it made Transformers more real , this is why most of us love them so much

Re: Why Are You Interested In Transformers?
I got into Transformers with the cartoon but stayed there because of the comics. I love the characters. I love the stories. I think there's a big advantage to franchises that have a lot of characters because there'll be someone for everyone to relate to. The first story I remember making an impression on me was the one about Ratchet and Megatron - Warrior School, I think. Ratchet's been one of my favourites ever since. He's a very appealing character, come to think of it.

Re: Why Are You Interested In Transformers?
I remember the thing that kept me into transformers was the comics growing up. I enjoyed the stories and characters
currently the toys keep me interested. The comics i'm definatly interested in but the toys (especially with todays enginerring) are above and beyond what we had as kids...for the most part they're the toys you wish they were in the 80's

They are giant robots, i think a lot of what keeps me interested is the flamboyance of it all.

Re: Why Are You Interested In Transformers?
Giant robots who are sentient beings. I think that's a very important part of it. Back in the day, I used to watch a lot of cartoons and I enjoyed mecha series like Voltron and the like. But Transformers was always my favourite series and I spent a long time wondering, why? It was only recently that it dawned on me that series like Voltron might have giant robots in them, but they were still piloted by human characters. Transformers were characters in their own right and I think that accounts for their appeal a great deal.

Re: Why Are You Interested In Transformers?
Originally it was the sheer design of the toys and the fact that each toy had it's own character - the tech specs working like top trumps cards almost, while the profiles on the tech spec cards really set them apart from every other robot toy out there. The UK comic just added far more dimension to the characters , but to be honest I kinda ignored the G1 Tv show, and only took notice of it after the 1986 animated movie... and then promptly enjoyed the UK comic stuff even more.
The design and characters are still the main draw, to be honest.
