IDW Artist Andrew Griffith introducing myself
Hello everyone,
I'm currently drawing RID, one of IDW's two Transformers Ongoings. I've been a Transformers fan since I picked up my first toy in 1984, a red-colored Bumblebee. Soon after that I picked up Marvel #1, and saw the cartoon on TV, and never looked back!
I've been meaning to for a while now, but finally decided to sign up for the AA forums. I've heard only good things about your conventions, having gotten to know a fair number of UK fans.
Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and say I hope everyone is enjoying RID. Feel free to ask me any questions! I'll answer any that I can.
And it's awesome that you guys are doing a show in Malmo, Sweden! I almost went there last year on holiday, actually.
Cheers.

Hi, love your artwork in Foundation from last year. Hopefully comic shops in Leeds UK will have the first issue in soon, they get the issues in a week late, so only had MTMTE #1.

Hi Andrew, welcome to the lunatic asylum! As for everything you've heard about the convention... it's all lies! lol Seriously, thanks for the kind words - it's really appreciated.

Thanks Simon! So it's all false, is it? People are just trying to drum up tourism for the UK by transformers fans, lol? As far as the concerns about the comic not arriving. Did they get it in, yet?

Forbidden Planet Leeds seemed to stop getting Transformers comics in from mid 2011 & MTMTE#1 is really the only new one in since the Movie 3 comics.

What a shame! And to think, I'd heard such good things about Forbidden Planet! How can they not stock RID?

Re: IDW Artist Andrew Griffith introducing myself
I can't speak about that particular Forbidden Planet but it all depends on which FP they are as well as there are two companies over here called Forbidden Planet! There's the "main" one that's owned by Titan Books and there's also Forbidden Planet Scotland which is a separate company. The two have an agreement in place which means that if one has a store in a particular city then the other chain has to rebrand their other store if they open one up.
For example, Birmingham City Centre has a Forbidden Planet store and a few year back FP Scotland purchased Nostalgia & Comics (the city's longest running comic store that has been around for well over 30 years) but they weren't allowed to change the name to Forbidden Planet Scotland so it's kept the Nostalgia & Comics name. If Forbidden Planet didn't have a store here, then they would have been free to change the name... but it gets more confusing because FP Scotland usually just call their stores Forbidden Planet as well! lol

Those 2 in Birmingham areally different too. The Sheffield one always seems to have same stuff in - stocking same titles & not just for few months then stop & then get them back in again.

And of course I'm not truly angry at them, haha. I just hope they're selling the books. I've heard the name "Forbidden Planet" from a lot of UK fans that go there. And I'm pretty sure this one comic book store in San Francisco shared the same name when lived there. But it's since shut down and I'm sure there's no connection.

Re: IDW Artist Andrew Griffith introducing myself
I got the MTMTE#1 fold out cover for £3 from the comic mart Leeds so I'm looking for the RID #1 one too. Saw the 2nd print for £2.95.

Re: IDW Artist Andrew Griffith introducing myself
Quick Question here:
In RID#3 there's a Transformer in the infirmary scene with what looks like a modified version of Dipstick/Tappet's mold and with some kibble on his back or something in red and grey. Who is that?
Also does the green tank NAIL have a name?

Also does the green tank NAIL have a name? The tank guy's name will be revealed in issue 5. So I don't want to give it away just yet. In the infirmary, the guy in the front is just a generic bot I drew up.

How about #8? Of both series!
