Activities

While the programme is still vague right now, we wanted to give you details of as many of the activities you can expect to see over the weekend at Auto Assembly 2012 before we schedule them into the weekend. While this isn’t an exhaustive list (we hope to add more as we get closer to the convention) we hope that this will give you a taster of some of the great ideas we have planned to give you a packed weekend of entertainment! There will be a lot of old favourites returning and plenty of new things being added as well…

The programme will be split over FOUR main function areas for the weekend. Our Main Hall for the weekend – the Palace Suite – will feature our theatre area hosting the guest talks, charity auction, Saturday evening programme and other major events, most of our dealers, guest signings and our Control and Registration Desks. Cross over the corridor and you’ll find the Arden Suite. This room will be split in two and you’ll find our Alternative Programme Room in one half and our Games / Activity Programme running concurrently in the other half.

Finally, we have the Library, which is another massive room which will house our Game Zone, some of our displays and additional dealers!

Please remember that the Friday Evening and Saturday Evening programmes are EXCLUSIVE for weekend attendees only! Unless otherwise stated, all of the items featured below will be running for the duration of Auto Assembly 2012 in different areas of the event hall!

Live Script Reading!!

Once again, our voice actors will be taking to the stage on Saturday night to read a specially-written script LIVE! Joining them will be a few lucky attendees who will get a rare opportunity to perform alongside some Transformers legends! For the first time ever at Auto Assembly, THREE voice actors will take to the stage to perform an original story penned by the legendary Simon Furman!

Karaoke / Karaoke

Want to see if you could be Auto Assembly’s own X-Factor winner? Think you’ve got a great singing voice or are you the sort of person who doesn’t care after you have had a drink or two? Well grab a mic and take to the stage!! Whether you want to belt out some rock classics or some ballads, there will be something for you! We’re sure that we will be able to persuade some of our guests to join in again so it will be another great event.

Games And Activities Programme

Sadly, we won’t be able to run a dedicated Children’s Programme this year, but we aren’t ignoring our younger attendees. We will still be running a programme of activities open to attendees of all ages including board games, competitions and games throughout the weekend and we hope to have a children’s entertainer on hand for most of the weekend to help keep the younger children happy, performing shows a few times during the convention. If you have any ideas or suggestions for games or activities you would like to see offered, please let us know!

Game Zone

Love Transformers video games? Well our video games area is going to grow again following it’s revamp last year! Here’s your chance to play a wide range of games on retro and modern game formats with something for everything from the very first game released for the Commodore 64 back in 1985 right up to the latest Playstation 3 releases! We’ll also have some games tournaments running so come along and try your luck! The Game Zone will also play host to a display of incredibly rare Transformers games and unusual game-related merchandise and collectibles!

Charity Raffle

We will be having one of our usual charity raffles, and once again we will be having a large number of draws taking place throughout the weekend so make sure you keep your tickets safe and the more tickets you buy and the earlier you get them, the more draws you’ll be entered into!

Charity Auction

Another massive Charity Auction and this time expect something pretty amazing… we will have loads of comic artwork and autographs from all Transformers eras in two auctions taking place over the weekend hosted by our guests of honour!

Competitions

As always, we will be running our usual writing, art and kitbash competitions, a costume competition if anyone feels brave enough, as well as quizzes and possibly some other games and competitions.

Cosplay Parade

2011 had our best range of entries so far for the Cosplay Competition with some truly remarkable costumes. People are already planning their costumes for this year and there is even talk of the first ever transforming costume making its appearance at the convention. As always, some of our guests will be judging all the entries so they had better be on their best behaviour!!

Dealers

We will have a range of dealers attending from all over the UK selling pretty much every type of Transformers merchandise you can think of including several new dealers to Auto Assembly and again, most of the regular dealers from past Auto Assembly events. Hopefully you will find a varied mix of quality dealers offering something for everyone!

Fan Area

Following on from the success of this last year, we will again be having area set aside for various Transformers fan clubs, organisations and websites where they will be promoting their activities, selling fanzines and much more! Already confirmed for this will be Transformers @ The Moon who will be showcasing some of their collection of incredibly rare Transformers and Transmasters UK who will be producing another exclusive fanzine for the convention.

Guests

All of our guests will be around to meet and talk with fans in a dedicated guest area, and we will be getting as many of them on stage as possible for talks and Q&A sessions as possible as well. Our list of confirmed guests is growing daily so rather than list them here, the best thing to do is check out our guests page.

Videos

There will be a continuous video programme running during the day between talks and other main programme items, with a selection of episodes from most Transformers shows, all shown on a massive screen! If you have any specific requests, let us know!

Artist Sketches

Want some original artwork? Have the chance to get something drawn just for you by some of the top comic artists in the business! There will be small charge for these which will vary from artist to artist.

Workshops

We’re going to be running a range of workshops again this year involving several comic professionals. These will include:-

  • Art Workshop – a firm favourite every year is the children’s art workshop we have run every year hosted by Kat Nicholson. However, a lot of adults have asked if they can join in, so this year we are opening it up to anyone who wants to join in and take a stab at drawing your favourite Transformer.
  • How To Draw Workshop – comic artist Lee Bradley will be expanding on his “How To Draw…” series that appeared in Titan’s Transformers comics as he teaches you all the basics you need to know to draw characters just like the professionals!
  • Comic Colourist Workshop – watch Kris Carter and Liam Shalloo take you through the stages they go through as they take a piece of artwork through the stages to a completed page of coloured comic artwork.

Rare Toy Display

A traditional feature of Auto Assembly for several years has been the display of rare toys from the guys at Transformers At The Moon. We’re still working on the theme for this year’s display but we know that it will be something pretty special…

Forum Meets

Several Transformers forums will be holding organised meets during the convention weekend. If you’re a member of a forum and want to arrange a meet for our Alternative Programme Room during the weekend, get in touch!

Swap Meet

Got any unwanted toys or other Transformers merchandise? Bring them along and trade them with other fans in our Swap Meet!

Fan Sales Table

Got any unwanted toys or pieces of Transformers merchandise that you want to sell? Here’s your chance to sell your unwanted items through the convention’s Fan Sales Table and have them on display for sale ALL weekend! Just name your asking price, leave them with us, and we’ll do the hard work for you! Just keep coming back to see if your items have sold and if they have then you have extra spending money for the convention!
